Description

These Apple Cinnamon Oat Crumble Bars are the ultimate fall dessert, combining sweet, tart apples with a buttery oat crumble for a cozy and delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups (140g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¾ cup (170g) cold, cubed unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving enough overhang to lift the bars out later.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press half of the crumble mixture firmly into the bottom of the lined baking dish to form the crust. Layer the apples evenly over the crust, then sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling. Let them cool completely in the pan before slicing.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free oats and a gluten-free baking blend. To make it vegan, substitute butter with coconut oil or vegan butter. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
