Description
A warm and comforting cocktail that combines the spicy flavors of chai with the smoothness of vanilla and bourbon, perfect for chilly autumn evenings.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 teaspoon chai syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 orange peel (for garnish)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional, for garnish)
- Large ice cubes or spheres
Instructions
- Prepare the chai syrup if not using store-bought: Combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, and 2 chai tea bags in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove the tea bags and let the syrup cool completely.
- In a rocks glass, add 1 teaspoon of chai syrup and a splash (about 1/4 teaspoon) of vanilla extract.
- Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters to the glass.
- Pour 2 ounces (60 ml) of your favorite bourbon into the glass.
- Drop in a large ice cube or sphere to keep the drink cold without diluting the flavors.
- Use a bar spoon to stir the mixture for about 20 seconds to meld the flavors.
- Using a vegetable peeler, peel a strip of orange zest. Twist it over the glass to release the oils, then drop it in as a garnish.
- Optional: Add a cinnamon stick for extra spice and aroma.
