Description
Perfectly golden, bite-sized pieces of salmon coated in a crunchy panko crust, drizzled with a creamy, tangy, slightly spicy Bang Bang sauce. A crowd-pleasing appetizer for any occasion.
Ingredients
- Fresh salmon fillets
- Salt
- Pepper
- Panko breadcrumbs
- All-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
- Eggs (or water and cornstarch as a substitute)
- Mayonnaise
- Sriracha
- Sweet chili sauce
- Honey
Instructions
- Cut the salmon fillets into bite-sized pieces (approximately 1-inch cubes). Pat them dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In three separate bowls, add flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. Arrange them in order for easy coating.
- Dip each piece of salmon into the flour, then the egg, and finally the breadcrumbs. Press lightly to ensure the breadcrumbs stick. Place the coated salmon on a wire rack.
- In a deep fryer or skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use enough oil to submerge the salmon bites completely.
- Fry the salmon bites in small batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, sweet chili sauce, and honey until smooth. Taste and adjust the spice level to your liking.
- Once the salmon bites are slightly cooled, drizzle (or dip) them with the Bang Bang sauce. Sprinkle with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish.
Notes
For extra crispiness, double coat the salmon by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps. Use a thermometer to monitor oil temperature for perfect frying.
