  • 3/4 cup (75g) cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar, then whisk to combine.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually incorporate the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely on a cooling rack.
  6. To make the frosting, beat the peanut butter, unsalted butter, and powdered sugar together until fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  7. Place one cake layer on a platter and spread frosting evenly on top. Add the second layer and frost the top and sides of the cake. Decorate as desired.

Notes
