Description
Warm, flaky layers of buttery pastry filled with luscious blackberry cream cheese, topped with powdered sugar. A perfect treat for brunch or tea time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package pre-made croissant dough
- 1 cup fresh blackberries (or frozen, thawed and drained)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Roll out the pre-made croissant dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Trim the edges to make it even.
- In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough. Scatter blackberries on top, slightly pressing them into the dough.
- Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough into 6 long strips.
- Roll each strip tightly into a spiral, then place it into a greased muffin tin cup.
- Brush the tops with egg wash (beaten egg mixed with milk) and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let the cruffins cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
Notes
Use cold dough for better layers. Avoid overfilling to ensure even baking. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
