  • Yield: 12-16 bars 1x

Description

Soft and buttery sugar cookie bars topped with creamy frosting and festive sprinkles, perfect for holiday baking and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter and 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until combined.
  4. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely in the pan.
  5. Beat 1/2 cup softened butter with 2 cups powdered sugar until smooth. Add 2 tablespoons heavy cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, beating until fluffy.
  6. Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie bars. Sprinkle generously with holiday sprinkles.
  7. Cut into squares or rectangles, and serve.
