Description

Firecracker Salmon is the perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors, making it an irresistible dish for both casual weeknight dinners and special occasions. This vibrant recipe gets its name from the bold “firecracker” marinade, which combines ingredients such as sriracha, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and a hint of sweetness from maple syrup or honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium optional)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, sriracha, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and olive oil to create the marinade.
  2. Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they’re completely coated.
  3. Marinate the salmon for at least 20 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for more intense flavor).
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  5. Place the marinated salmon on the prepared baking sheet and brush with any remaining marinade.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the salmon is flaky and cooked through.
  7. Optional: For a caramelized finish, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce the amount of sriracha and increase the sweetener. The salmon can also be grilled or pan-seared instead of baked. Pairs beautifully with jasmine rice, quinoa, or fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
