Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) pure maple syrup
- 1–2 tablespoons (15-30ml) milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Use a cookie scoop to portion out dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
Notes
For best results, sift the dry ingredients to keep the cookies light and fluffy. Chill the dough for 15-20 minutes if your kitchen is warm to prevent spreading. Adjust the glaze consistency by altering the amount of milk.
