Description
A perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors, these Maple-Bourbon Candied Turkey Wings feature a sticky glaze that will have you licking your fingers and reaching for seconds.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 pounds turkey wings, rinsed and patted dry
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Pat the turkey wings dry with paper towels and arrange them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup, bourbon, brown sugar, butter, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Heat over medium-low, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the glaze thickens slightly (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar.
- Using a pastry brush, generously coat the turkey wings with the maple-bourbon glaze. Reserve some glaze for basting later.
- Place the wings in the oven and bake for 45 minutes. Flip the wings halfway through cooking and brush with more glaze.
- Switch your oven to broil for the last 3-5 minutes to caramelize the wings. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
- Let the wings cool for 5 minutes before serving to allow the glaze to set.
Notes
[‘Dry the wings thoroughly before baking for crispy skin.’, ‘Use parchment paper if you don’t have aluminum foil for easy cleanup.’, ‘Add a pinch of liquid smoke to the glaze for extra smokiness.’, “Broiling adds a caramelized finish but can be skipped if you’re in a rush.”, ‘Brush on extra glaze and broil longer if the wings don’t caramelize enough.’]
