  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water (110°F/43°C) with sugar and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until it’s smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5 minutes.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the surface.
  7. Roll and transfer: Roll the dough into a log and place it seam-side down in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Second rise: Cover the loaf pan with a towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  10. Cool and enjoy: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Ensure the water for activating yeast is warm but not too hot. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic for the best texture. Spread cheese evenly to avoid clumps.
