Description
These irresistible mozzarella bites feature a golden, crispy shell and a warm, gooey center of melted cheese. Perfect for parties, snacks, or appetizers, they are a crowd-pleaser every time.
Ingredients
- Mozzarella cheese (sticks, fresh mozzarella balls, or block mozzarella cut into bite-sized pieces)
- All-purpose flour
- Eggs, beaten
- Breadcrumbs (plain, Italian-style, or panko)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Garlic powder
- Paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella cheese into bite-sized pieces or use mozzarella balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the mozzarella pieces for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from melting too quickly during frying.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each mozzarella piece into the flour, then the eggs, and finally the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure each piece is fully coated.
- For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating process to create a thicker barrier.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain the temperature.
- Working in small batches, fry the coated mozzarella pieces for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pot.
- Remove the mozzarella bites with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or garlic aioli.
Notes
Freeze the mozzarella pieces before frying to prevent them from melting too quickly. Double-coating ensures a thicker, crunchier crust. Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
