- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 3 cups (360g) of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of salt, and 2 tsp of instant yeast.
- Stir in 1 ½ cups (360ml) of warm water until the dough comes together—it will be sticky, and that’s perfectly fine!
- Mix in 2 tbsp of finely chopped rosemary and 2 cloves of minced garlic, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Cover the bowl with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 2-3 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, dust your hands and a work surface with flour. Gently shape the dough into a round loaf—don’t overwork it!
- Place your Dutch oven (with the lid) inside the oven and preheat to 450°F (230°C) for at least 30 minutes.
- Place the shaped dough on a piece of parchment paper. Carefully lift the parchment paper and dough into the preheated Dutch oven.
- Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the lid and bake for another 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
If you don’t have fresh rosemary, dried rosemary works perfectly in a pinch. Let the bread cool completely before slicing to ensure the interior sets properly. For a cheesy variation, add ½ cup of shredded Parmesan or mozzarella to the dough.
