- 4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (240 g) Nutella
- 1/4 cup (50 g) brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, warm 1 cup (240 ml) of milk until lukewarm (not hot). Stir in 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) of active dry yeast and 1 tbsp of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups (500 g) of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup (50 g) of sugar, and 1/2 tsp of salt. Add the yeast mixture, 1 egg, and 1/4 cup (60 g) of softened butter. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes (or 5 minutes in a stand mixer) until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a 12×18-inch (30×45 cm) rectangle. Spread 1 cup (240 g) of Nutella evenly over the surface, leaving a 1-inch (2.5 cm) border.
- Sprinkle 1/4 cup (50 g) of brown sugar mixed with 1 tbsp of cinnamon over the Nutella.
- Carefully roll the dough into a log, starting from the longer edge. Slice into 12 even pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the rolls bake, whisk 1 cup (120 g) of powdered sugar with 2-3 tbsp of milk to make a glaze.
- Once the rolls cool slightly, drizzle the glaze on top. Serve warm!
Notes
Don’t overheat the milk to avoid killing the yeast. Use dental floss to slice the rolls cleanly. Let the rolls cool slightly before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting completely.
